PlantBench / Rebuild vs. replace
Rebuild vs. replace: three options and an avoided rebuild
A rebuild, a replacement, and a partial change can sit side by side. Each option has its own equipment inputs. The plant rates stay shared. An avoided rebuild is not a third savings line. It is a one-time dollar amount in a year you enter, and it has no default.
How does the three-option comparison work?
The calculator keeps up to three options. They share the plant throughput, schedule, wage, and energy prices. Equipment cost, labor, yield, and energy use can differ by option. The PDF comparison ranks the options that have a result by NPV.
Equipment cost is blank until you type it on that option. There is no default rebuild price and no default replacement price.
Where does an avoided rebuild go?
Enter the dollar amount and the year it would have been spent. It is not part of annual savings. It is a cash flow in that year. The undiscounted five-year net includes it when the year is 1 through 5. Leave both fields blank if you do not have the figure.

Questions
Should I add a rebuild and a new line together?
Only if they are alternatives. The comparison is side by side, not a sum. Use one frame for the meeting.
Does avoided rebuild change annual savings?
No. Annual savings exclude it. It affects the cash flow in the year you enter, and the five-year net when that year is 1 through 5.
